A few days ago my dad left for Nova Scotia. We went with my grandfather to Istanbul for 2 nights.We visited Topkapi palace. Topkapi palace was the home of the ottoman sultans for 400y years. It’s a huge palace famous for it’s harem. The harem is where the sultan kept his wives and also had important meetings. 4000 people lived at Topkapi palace in it’s peak. Contruction began 1459 by Sultan Mehmed 3 the conqueror, of Byzantine Constantinople. Also in Topkapi palace there is one of the world’s biggest diamond, to see it there was a big lineup. The diamond is called the spoonmakers diamond. 1670 a very poor man found a pretty stone in the garbage in Istanbul he bartered it to a spoonmaker for 3 wooden spoons. The Harem where they lived looked surprisingly kozy.

I’ve always loved Mediterranean tiles, but haven’t seen that particular style before, so thanks for the photo. Also, I tried to imagine living in this palace 600 years ago. Hope you all stay safe and continue to have a wonderful adventure.
