One of the nice things about living on a boat is that you get to fix things. And there is nothing more rewarding than stopping leaks. In Victoria I don’t think anyone would have called me handy. Here, I’ve exchanged a briefcase for a tool kit. I like the feeling of accomplishment and seeing the tangible results.
I have a greater appreciation now for Red Green’s old saying about what it means to be a man: “If they can’t call you handsome, at least they can call you handy.”
